Eac Equivalent For Mac
Very new Mac user here. I really like EAC and have used it on my Windows machine to rip my cd's with great success. However, the time is quickly approaching where I plan on ditching my dated Windows machine and going all Mac. I have not been getting a lot of joy from MAC or EAC's forums, so thought someone. I just need to prove to myself that the quality is equivalent.
This maybe due to copy protection on the CDs. Are you trying to rip it on a Windows machine or a Mac?

A Mac may have more success. Also try using a different program other than iTunes for Windows to do the ripping of the CD and then afterwards import the resulting files in to iTunes. You can still use an external USB CD drive on a Mac. Even if these particular CDs are not protected a previously inserted and copy protected CD may have installed software in to your Windows PC to sabotage future ripping, this effectively malware does not exist on Macs hence my suggestion to use a Mac instead. Sony have been particularly guilty of dirty tricks like this. With regards to alternative CD ripping software - for Windows many people use (Exact Audio Copy), for Mac the nearest equivalent is which can not only convert between lossless formats like FLAC, AIFF, WAV and ALAC but also rip directly from CD with error correction like EAC.

I had a search for things like MP3, EAC, etc but didn't find anything that seemed terribly definitive. Having moved across to the Apple iMac from Windows I'm having to convert my old processes to the new world I'm in. I used to use Exact Audio Copy (or EAC if you prefer) on Windows 7. But I'm unclear what the equivalent on Mac would be? I've tried Max but it didn't seem to be supported anymore, never finds any artwork, needs song names typing in. Quickly utterly fed up of that as it seems quite useless to me in its current state.
I'm currently giving iTunes a go but iTunes is not really part of my workflow. I have a system I've been using for years, I want to do it my way rather than the iTunes way, thanks.
Filename, tagging, artwork is all important to me, and I don't seem to have control over that in iTunes-land. Hence I think I'm after a standalone MP3 encoding app. Any pro-tips from more experienced users out there? I don't mind paying for something with active updates and thus had a look in the Mac App Store for 'MP3' but that brings up quite a few choices.
