Memory spec terms If you're not sure if a module is right for your system, use the for a list of guaranteed compatible modules. NON-ECC/Non-parity Most desktop and laptop computers take NON-ECC or Non-parity memory. ECC/Parity ECC or parity modules look for errors in data and are most often found in servers and other mission-critical applications used by large networks and businesses. Unbuffered Most PCs and workstations use unbuffered memory which is faster than registered memory. Registered/Buffered Registered or buffered modules delay all information transferred to the module by one clock cycle. This type of memory is primarily used in servers. Fully buffered Designed for next-generation servers, features an advanced memory buffer.
CL CAS (column address strobe) latency, which is the number of clock cycles it takes before data starts to flow after a command is received. Lower CL is faster. Modules with different CL can be mixed on a system, but the system will only run at the highest (slowest) CL.
Component configuration (For example: 64Meg x 64) Indicates the size of the memory chip components on the module. Voltage For example 2.6V. Indicates the power used by the module.
The lower the better. Check the and for more detailed definitions. Crucial laptop memory The fastest, easiest way to improve your laptop‚s performance There‚s an easy cure for a slow computer: more memory. Designed to help your system run faster and smoother, Crucial Laptop Memory is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to improve your system‚s performance. Load programs faster.
Increase responsiveness. Run data-intensive applications with ease, and increase your laptop‚s multitasking capabilities. Make everything on your computer faster Memory is a component in your computer that allows for short-term data access. Since your system‚s moment-to-moment operations rely on short-term data access – loading applications, browsing the Web or editing a spreadsheet – the speed and amount of memory in your system plays a critical role. Load apps in seconds by increasing the speed of your memory and installing more of it.

Multitask with ease If you‚re like us, you use your computer to do lots of things at once. You might be editing a document, while also looking at pictures and browsing the Internet.
This naturally leads to a performance problem: every app you‚re running requires memory and competes for a limited pool of resources. Overcome this by installing high-density modules in each memory slot for seamless multitasking. Extend battery life One of the most important aspects of laptop performance is battery life.
By upgrading your memory, you can potentially take advantage of lower voltage modules – and increase energy efficiency by up to 40% when using the latest memory technology. 1 What‚s more, by simply installing more memory, you‚ll reduce the number of times your system has to access the hard drive (paging). Less paging means tasks are done faster – using less battery power.
Install with ease – no computer skills required With just a screwdriver, your owner‚s manual, and a few minutes of time, you can install memory – no computer skills necessary. Just watch one of our three-minute install videos, and we‚ll walk you step-by-step through the process. Don‚t pay a computer shop to do something you can do in minutes!
Maximize the value of your system At a fraction of the cost of a new system, a memory upgrade is one of the most affordable ways to increase performance. Get more out of your laptopby giving it the resources it needs to perform.

Toshiba indicates the device is capable of addressing 8GB of RAM (if running Windows 7 Professional). I use this laptop for Digital Audio Production and was running out of memory on some projects.
Laptop will NOT boot with Crucial memory only installed. It will NOT boot with either new module alone, but will boot with a single module from original vendor. Can boot laptop with combination of Crucial and old modules. This gives me a total of 6GB of RAM. Old module must be in Bank 0 and Crucial in Bank 1 (Reverse will NOT boot). Have called technical support several times. Techs were polite and helpful, but we were NOT able to resolve the issue.
Crucial offered to refund my money, but saw in other forums that this is a motherboard issue and only certain vendors DRAM allow all 8GB to be accessed. Suspect it may be a timing issue as these modules are faster than original modules. BIOS shows memory statistics, but does NOT allow manual configuration of any kind. I will only use Crucial memory in my devices, so I'm living with my purchase since the 2GB extra are allowing my current projects to run. I'm keep my extra modules for spares for use in the future. I have used Crucial on all of the PCs projects in the past and will only use Crucial memory.
Again this is a Motherboard issue and NOT a crucial problem. Would like to see website updated to indicate the incompatibility above, so others aren't affected or disappointed in the future. One of two Bad I purchased the package of 2x4GB RAM for my laptop to upgrade from $GB to 8GB. I purchased the item that had 2x4GB strictly so that the RAM modules would be the same.
I purchased the package of 2x4GB RAM for my laptop to upgrade from $GB to 8GB. I purchased the item that had 2x4GB strictly so that the RAM modules would be the same. Well they came on time but one of the RAM modules was bad and the computer would not boot and gave a special beeping sound to let me know. When I replaced the original 4GB that came with the computer and tried one of the Crucial RAM I still got an error and no Boot up.

I tried to use the second RAM from Crucial the computer accepted it and it works fine now.
